A Celebration of Height

Peter started by climbing New York City's skyscrapers and bridges with improvised equipment that resulted in views never seen before. Honing his photographic methods, and what he is most famous for, he scaled and climbed buildings with steelworkers and construction workers to understand the city in a way that cannot be grasped from the ground.
Peter called the tops of the buildings and bridges his urban wilderness: a place in the middle of NYC which felt private, far away and quiet. This world up high was the ultimate escape from the overcrowded and dirty streets below. It put him physically close to the top of the spires and the bridge cables resulting in an intimacy with the architecture. Peter's New York City  photographs are a testament to his love for his city.
